I decided to keep all 3 because it is 3 different parts of the sunset sky.

'Extended' Valentine's Date Mishaps.

So yesterday was a pretty eventful day for Chad and I. Maybe you remember here that Chad had bought us ticket to see Beauty and the Beast as an 'extended' Valentine's date. Or maybe you didn't, because we didn't either...almost. *WHOOPS*
Yesterday, I had the day off from school for President's Day. I was bored and without a car so I spent the day wishing hubs was home and wasting my time away before I headed up to school for some last minute details before the week.
I was still at school at 6:30 when Hubs called laughing,
Hubs: "Hey, ya know what we forgot about?"
Me: "No"
Hubs: "Beauty and the Beast is tonight"
Me: "OH CRAP!!!! WHAT TIME? OH NO!!!!!! MY HAIR!!! WHAT TIME?!?!??!"

*My hair had not been washed for 2 days...hints the grease-ball bun...I tend to do that on the weekends.*

Hubs: "7:30"
Me: "What's the LATEST we can leave??? 7??"
Hubs: "Yeah probably 7."
Me: "DARN! This is going to be hilarious. Okay I'll be home soon. "
I scrambled to finish up what I needed to at school and then began laughing because there was just no fixing that nasty grease ball of a bun on top of my head before we needed to leave. I raced home, ran inside, threw on a dress, snapped a few pictures and we were headed out. Since we had no time ... our fancy dinner turned into McDonald's Drive-Thru (Chad actually ran inside because apparently everyone else had the same idea and it was packed!).

I was pretty excited about my Cheeseburger Happy Meal though. It just added to the 'mood' of the night. We made it to the show just in time and it was great. Oh and I only ran into one person I knew. Whew!
It was the funniest date night ever. And, it was certainly the best 'extended' Valentine's date.
We Loved It.

I Cooked!...

...Or baked I guess. You'd be so proud! I found this recipe for strawberry swirl cream cheese pound cake on the cover of Southern Living magazine and thought it looked de~lish. As always I flipped to the recipe and read it through. It usually stops there and I close the magazine or read something else with no desire to actually bake anything. Yesterday something inside of me said, I can do that!

So Hubs and I made a trip to the grocery store and we got the ingredients needed as well as some other groceries (Martin and Hillary were coming over and we were cooking a 'beer can chicken'). We all had a job to make it a fantastic dinner. Hillary was in charge of the corn dip, Chad the potatoes, Martin the chicken and I the cake! Of course my cake did not turn out exactly like the picture but it was very yummy!! :) I used a 4 mini loaf pan and this 9x9 pan to cook mine in. No pictures of the mini loaves because they are almost gone! *WooPs!*

The only bad thing was this morning I went to cook some biscuits in the oven for breakfast and they came out tasting like chicken. :/ Hmmmm....guess it's time to clean the oven!

ACU Sing Song 2011

It's that weekend of the year again. ACU's Sing Song has come and gone. If you want to remember what Sing Song is, you can read about it here. But basically, it is college students singing/'dancing' to popular songs 'remixed' to be about ACU. It is a huge tradition at ACU and so many families come into town just for this weekend. Jon came to stay with us as usual. We had a cookout Friday night and Hillary and Martin joined us. Jon showed off his back-flip skills...

Saturday was a very lazy day for Chad and I. We finally decided to get around and we went to eat at Abuelo's before the show. YUM!! Once we got to the show we started seeing several people we knew from college, and catching up was so fun! Terri texted me to see if we would be there and she ended up buying a ticket to see the show a second time and join us. The shows were all so fun this year and there was a huge amount of participation in class acts and club acts. We saw everything from oreos to pigs to pilots.

It really was a great night and I loved the host/hostesses. To top it all off Terri and Chad's clubs won overall for the night. I honestly did not expect Chad's club to win anything overall but it was fun for him to go and watch over the celebration of his club and see so many of his old friends.

After the show Jon, Caleb and Terri came over to hang out for a while. Terri and I stayed up and talked until 1:30am before she had to leave. (The boys outlasted us by far.) It was so nice catching up and visiting with Terri. With some friends you just pick back up right where you left off. Love her!

Valentine's Day

My Valentine's Day has been extended to tomorrow because Hubs bought tickets for us to go see Beauty and the Beast.
Woohoo! I'm excited.
But for now, I thought I'd leave you with what Ty received for Valentine's Day...

His edible Card from Target.

The Grass is Greener

Remember that sweet puppy? That 'poor dog'?

He's grounded.

It all started last week when he got out because we 'thought' the latch had broke on the fence. Chad found him after 30 minutes of searching around the neighborhood. I was so glad.

Today, hubs got a phone call from 2 different people saying they had our dog. Yes, that's TWO different people, TWO different phone calls......all in ONE day. He was escaping our yard and we didn't know how. There were no signs of digging, posts missing, fence open. Nothing.
All we could think is that he is climbing on our deck to jump the fence.

Then, hubs hears him outside. Yep, that's him. Climbing on top of his house in order to jump over the fence.

And that, my friends, is why our superhero dog, who recently acquired an obsession with getting to the other side of the fence and some pretty amazing acrobatic skills, is...
G.R.O.U.N.D.E.D.
Really, Tye...Are we that bad?????

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 2-13-11

Here again for Scavenger Hunt Sunday link up with Ramblings and Photos. 5 new categories and 5 new(ish) pictures to share.

1. Shadows-These pictures are borrowed from before Thanksgiving. I had taken them of Victoria before she left for Dance class. She looked sooo cute. I remember she had a blast running around and dancing in my parents driveway that afternoon.

2. Patterns-We have a brick wall in our house and I love the color of the brick.

3. Bright White-I had to reuse a snow picture one more time. It was so beautiful when we had our 4 snow days.

4. Strong-Is my hubs. We bought an older home so we could fix some of the things in the house the way we want it. In this picture Hubs is installing some recessed lighting, from just a couple of weeks ago. We love it and are so happy with how it turned out. Thanks hubs for all your hard work!

5. Warmth-Hubs took this picture of the fire at Perini's when we were there for Hillary's Birthday. The fire was so nice and the food was de-lish!

Happy Birthday to Hillar-ay!

Friday was Hillary's birthday and Martin had planned a surprise dinner outing for her. Hillary is not one for surprises so it was pretty nice that he pulled it off for her. He made dinner reservations for all of us at Perini's about 2 weeks ago to beat the Valentine's crowd. We were a little early, so we hung out back on the porch by the fire until they called us. We ordered our food and it was DELICIOUS!! After we ate, we headed out for some drinks and fun. All in all it was a great night. Happy Birthday to Hillary! One of our Besties!

And a little Birthday Rap for the Birthday girl...

Superbowl Sunday!

Last week we celebrated along with the rest of America in celebrating the Superbowl. I have to admit I was not sure who was playing but I was told by hubs that we were rooting for the packers. So, I selected my outfit accordingly. Green and yellow it was for me.

I've never been one who cares to much for the game on Superbowl but I do love to watch the commercials and halftime! And this year, halftime was going to be the Black Eyed Peas. I was really excited about that. I love their music. They surprised us with Slash and USHER! It was great. I loved it. The other best part about Superbowl is all the great food.

We mastered our Jalapeno Poppers by baking them this time. It was an event in itself, but they were the best.
With a great win, great food, great friends, great fun, oh and a great run outside to catch giant snowflakes...Superbowl 2011 couldn't have been better.
