Got My Nails 'Did'

There is not much more relaxing than a pedicure.  They are a 'once in a while' thing around these neck of the woods but they are sure appreciated when the come around!
Hillary & I discovered Shannon a few years ago from some co-workers and we LOVE her.  She is so talented and can do nearly any design on your toes!  She is extremely hard to get an appointment with, but well worth the wait!
I went a little more simple this time on the nail design and Hillary & I ended up getting the same thing.  I love them!  Although, I can tell you, they won't get touched up until our next appointment in April.  Hope that nail polish holds tight until then! ;)
(Those are hearts on each of my big toes in case you can't tell.)

Birthday Weekend Recap

I think this is the last of my birthday posts.  Hehe.  It was a great one this year.  As most of you already know my parents surprised me by coming up to visit this weekend.  It was a total shocker and my mom caught it all on video!

This is hubs & I before heading out to dinner with Hillary & Martin.  A traditional 'birthday shot' for us.

They are some of my favorite people and I loved that Hubs & I got to share our time with them over the weekend.  They recently got a new jeep, so a lot of our time was spent cruising around in that.  I have to admit I had a little new car envy.  ;)
Hehe...a nice close-up of my dad! ;)
A package of goodies came in the mail from Clint & Kristen.  Fun! Fun!

Mom said this card really did remind her of me & Clint when we were little.  I think we have a picture pretty similar to it somewhere.

Hubs got to talking about how our tree in the front yard is dying.  (Booooo!)  And next thing ya know, he's climbing it.  What a nice looking monkey in that tree!
And some famous self-timer shots.  :)

I love how much my parents love Tye.  Seriously they could sit outside all day with him entertaining all his pleas to be pet, funny noises, and silly quirks yet still want to spend more time with him.  We had to include him in a shot!

"Sometimes we need to draw how we feel,"
A message I passed along today.
Sometimes words are not adequate
And our minds can not compute.
Love those around you
With everything you have.
There's been a lot of tragedy in the news lately.
My heart goes out to those in mourning.

Best Birthday Gift

This birthday was one of the best yet!  Thank you for all of the sweet text messages, phone calls, voice mails, etc.  And, I think EVERYONE should have a Facebook if at least just for their birthday.  You guys sure know how to make a girl feel LOVED.  The special notes and birthday wishes were so fun to read throughout the day!

I had a few special gifts mailed to me this year.  Rebecca & Chris (my besties from college!!) sent a card full of confetti and it was soooo funny!  I spilled the confetti everywhere.  Alisa sent me a card with some adorable little leopard (love!) earrings.  I can't wait to wear them!  I got a card from Chad's grandma, DD.  Clint & Kristen mailed me a beautiful green and leopard scarf and a black & white striped shirt I've had my eyes on for quite a while at Old Navy.  :)
Jared & Angela had brought me some fun & funky red ornaments for my tree that I'm so excited to use next year!  Hillary & Martin got me a basket full of goodies from nail polish to hair clips to a beautiful cream infinity scarf.  Oh and you can't forget my parents driving up to surprise me for my birthday.
One of my best birthday gifts was simple and sweet and definitely not something you could purchase.  My 6 year old niece prepared a ballet to perform for me when they came to visit for the weekend.  She made sure to bring her ballet clothes, pick out the perfect music and put her hair up in her own little bun...that fell out half way through the show. ;)  It was so sweet and I absolutely adored it!

For my birthday dinner Hubs & I had planned to go to dinner and The Winery in town.  I came home from school and was EX-HAUS-TED so I took a quick nap and drank a cup of coffee before getting ready to head on out.  The nap & coffee combo must have been exactly what I needed because I was HYYYYYYYPER when our besties Hillary & Martin picked us up for dinner.
I decided on a chinese food restaurant and it was definitely a good choice!  We enjoyed the food and then it was obviously time to go on to the next spot.  In all of my hyperness I did not even pick up on any of Hubs subtle clues about 'needing to leave' and 'we need to get there before they close' and 'come on can talk in the car'.  I was just chatting away and having a good ole time!
So we finally closed our tab and I closed my mouth ;) and we headed to The Winery.  Hillary & Martin hadn't been before so we were excited to bring them there.  Hubs did his usual "I'm going to go check the patio to see if there are any seats."  I let him go not thinking a thing while I sampled a few wines with Hillary.  Little did I know Hubs was going out to scope out where my MOM AND DAD'S HIDING SPOT WAS!!  They had planned a complete surprise and pulled it off without me even thinking twice about anything.

As we stepped outside to go to our table I noticed this couple crammed up in the corner to the side of the stairs and noticed she had her phone out taking a picture or something.  As I walked I noticed that the camera was following me and I got a little worried.  Then I thought, "THAT LADY LOOKS JUST LIKE MY MOM!"  My reaction was priceless and my mom got it all on camera!
It was such a great surprise and we laughed and laughed at how they pulled it all off.

Love those jokesters and was so happy to see them!! :)

JA & V Visit (Birthday Lunch & Windmills)

Sunday we headed out to my birthday lunch that we had passed on the night before because we were so full.  When the waitress seated us we had a guest waiting for us at the table.  Good ole' Earl.
Then it was off to the windmills!  This was the one thing Angela wanted to do while they were in town.  :)

And I leave you with a video of how we entertain ourselves when in the car for a long period of time.

Once we got home, JA & V had to pack up and head back to their house.  We were sad to see them go but so excited they got to come spend so much time with us.  Can't wait until next time! :)
